Greg Neffinger on the Issues - that matter to you and your family most.
Jobs and the Economy
I have been an architect and a small business owner in West Springfield for twenty years. I understand the need to create jobs and reduce costs for working families and small businesses. Our economy works best when people have more of their money to spend and businesses can invest and create jobs. We should be lowering taxes, not raising them.
Yet, property taxes and fees, continue to increase every year. Higher taxes are a pay cut and hurt small businesses, the elderly, and working families.
Right now, people are struggling to hold onto their jobs and businesses, their homes and their families due to the current financial crisis.
The Answer is not Taxes but Spending
We need to relook at how we run our local government and find new and inovative ideas to cut spending just as you have done with your personnal finances over the last three years.I believe we need to let people keep more of their own money to spend and help the economy.
"Let's Rebuild West Side for our
Future"Reduce Wasteful Spending
Government has become part of the problem, instead of the solution.Government will always find a way to spend as much money as we send them. The reason is, they think it’s their money. I want to send a strong message "I will be conservative with your money"”
I believe we should reduce the size of government and control spending in order to lower taxes. We should balance the budget, not by raising taxes every year and not by producing budgets based on level funded services.
People are struggling to hold on to their jobs, their businesses and homes.
Preserve Local Aid
We need to get the budget and state spending under control in order to preserve Local Aid to cities and towns. I will send a strong message to Boston that we need to preserve local aid.Education
I support funding for education. Our focus should be on the quality of education. Our efforts should put our children first, support teachers and we should expect results.I support school choice and more parental involvement.
One of the most effective education programs begins with parents being involved and asking, “Do you have homework? Did you finish your homework? Do you need help with your homework?"
